We love a good proposal story, so when we found out that Kyle has smuggled Bec away to Paris as a total surprise and then popped then question on their first day in the city of love, we were hooked. It was fun and romantic and pretty much set the tone for their cocktail style wedding held at Old Broadwater Farm in WA, where they incorporated a mobile bar, an outdoor dance floor and their favourite furry friends.
Tell us about how you met and the proposal?
Kyle is and always has been super romantic. He planned a surprise trip to Paris without me having any idea. The first day we were there, he took me to the Eiffel Tower and proposed. We spent the next four days without anyone knowing in our own little bubble exploring the streets of Paris and taking some time to ourself. We then came home and shared our exciting news with our family and friends. It has to be the best few weeks of our lives!
What DIY projects did you do accomplish for the wedding?
We made all the wedding invites. We put together our own play lists for the night and we sourced most of the decorations from Etsy all over the world.
What sort of vibe were you channelling for your wedding?
The vibe changed a number of times before the wedding. It wasn’t until I decided on a dress that I went down the track of a “romantic wedding”. I wanted brass vases and deep plum flowers, and we just knew our two dogs Peppa and Kaos had to be there to share in our big day!
What advice would you give to other couples leading up to their big day?
Make the most out of every single moment! Planning the wedding is half the fun! Don’t let the little things stress you out – you are getting married!
What does marriage mean to you?
It means a lifetime with your best friend. It means laughing together every single day and tackling life’s challenges together.
What was your favourite moment on your wedding day?
Our wedding was the same weekend as the big bushfires down south. We thought many of our guests were simply not going to be able to make it due to the major road closures.
It was pretty amazing to see that every single one of our guests were there with us to celebrate our big day (even if that meant an additional four hours of driving!)
Nothing will ever beat the moment of seeing each other at the alter. We truly cannot remember a single thing the celebrant said because we were in our own little world starring at each other. It was a pretty awesome experience.
