Hey The Burrow, can you tell us a bit about your beautiful venue?
The Burrow is a contemporary take on a barn-style venue offering an events space for up to 170 guests as well as several other beautiful locations for wedding ceremonies.
What inspired you to get involved with weddings?
Born from an idea on a lazy Sunday, The Burrow is a family built (literally) wedding and events space situated on Wombat Forest Vineyard. Though the property has been in the Lawlor family for over 20 years, it was only in 2016 that Deidre, Brendon, their son Brad and his wife Ally decided to add a wedding and events space into the mix.
While planning their own wedding Brad & Ally noticed an exciting opportunity to create a unique space that could seat up to 170 guests (they have an enormous family and couldn’t find a venue they loved that could fit everyone!). With years of event styling and planning experience between them, it was a no-brainer. From there they all spent many months working tirelessly until the dream of The Burrow was a reality.
What kind of facilities does your venue offer?
At The Burrow, you will find cathedral ceilings, exposed hardwood trusses as well as a working stone fireplace. The barn also boasts timber bi-fold doors that open onto a generous deck where you can enjoy views of rolling farmland and forest. Our space is suitable for both small and large weddings and can be customised to suit your needs.
We also have a number of suitable locations for your wedding ceremony, including ‘The Courtyard’ which offers a purpose-built landing overlooking the property and bushland, the ‘Mini Paddock’ a beautiful grass clearing bordered by a rustic barn style fence with festoon lights overhead, and ‘The Forest’ a natural clearing amongst our native Eucalypts featuring timber log bench seats.
What would you say is the biggest selling point for most couples who’ve gotten married at your beautiful property?
The Burrow has many unique aspects, but I think most couples love the fact that it is still very much a blank canvas that they can make their own!
Do you offer onsite accommodation? Alternatively, are there places to stay nearby?
Not at this stage… but we have plans for the future. There are a number of beautiful options nearby such as Stonefields and The Farmhouse (only 2 minutes around the corner).
What’s your favourite thing you’ve seen a couple do at your venue?
We had an epic wedding party that arrived in a Kombi which required a hill start… 100% of the time, every time. It was so great! When at a photo location post-ceremony, the Kombi refused to start and one of the groomsmen ended up fixing the fan belt using his suspenders. They arrived back just in time for the reception!
And what do you think would be epic at your property? Any ideas you’d love to see a couple carry out?
A dusk ceremony in ‘The Forest’ with festoon lights strung throughout the forest or a cosy winter ceremony inside ‘The Burrow’ using our stone fireplace as a backdrop (filled to the brim with white pillar candles course!).
Can you describe the kind of couples your venue attracts?
Relaxed couples with their own sense of style.
Any new venue developments or plans on the horizon?
Always… stay tuned!
