A wedding that was low on tradition and high on love, Stephen and Cassie’s celebration at The Riverstone Estate in the Yarra Valley had all our favourite things rolled into one – native flowers, canapés and jaw-dropping views.
Read on – we promise these pics by Sarah Godenzi will make your day.
Tell us about how you met and the proposal?
We met as young teenagers as we grew up in the same neighborhood and used to hang out with each other, Stephen moved away and we lost touch for a few years then we reconnected when I was 18 and have been together ever since. He proposed at home it was very unexpected and sweet.
What was your theme/inspiration/vibe for your wedding?
We wanted something fun, easy, and laid back, I guess you could say the theme was Australian Rustic Winery, lots of native flowers, candles, and lights with touches of gold.
What traditions did you involve during your big day?
We aren’t big on traditions, the only thing we kept was our first dance and the dance with my dad, everything else was scrapped, no speeches or bouquet toss etc. and our ceremony was very basic and quick as we both aren’t very religious.
What advice would you give to other couples leading up to their big day?
Remember you’re a team and it’s a celebration of the both of you, for the both of you, so do what you want to.
What was your favourite moment on your wedding day?
There are too many awesome moments all blurred into one, but I’ll never forget that feeling of excitement before walking down the aisle.
How did you find your venue and was the process difficult for you?
Well I love the Yarra Valley and we knew we wanted a cocktail style wedding so I did my research online first and narrowed it down to a few venues in the area and spent one afternoon with my sister and her husband visiting the venues. Riverstone just blew us away with the relaxed atmosphere, stunning views, and amazing food, it had everything we were looking for.
