These two long-time lovers tied the knot at Zonzo Estate in Victoria’s beautiful Yarra Valley, where they created a relaxed, rustic and Italian-inspired affair.
There were plenty of wonderful details (including a lemonade stand) but we personally love the giant cut-out print of their dog who couldn’t be there on the day.
We spoke to Jackie about everything that went on behind-the-scenes.
Tell us about how you met and the proposal.
We met as youngsters at a popular nightclub and hit things off straight away. Nath took his time and proposed 10 years later right before my 27th birthday, then surprised me with a party at home to share the news with family and friends!
What DIY projects did you do accomplish for the wedding?
A great, big, cut-out print of our dog who couldn’t be there. We designed and made our own invitations, place cards and menus. Black and white photos in vintage frames of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days made a nice touch.
What sort of wedding vibe were you aiming for?
Rustic, nature, warm, fun, Italian!
What traditions did you involve during your big day?
I wore a veil then changed into a headpiece for the reception. We included cutting of the cake, first dance and father-daughter dance. We scrapped a bonbonniere and donated money to Animals Australia instead.
What advice would you give to other couples leading up to their big day?
Don’t sweat the small things! Simplify and get lots of inspiration online.
What does marriage mean to you?
The journey with your best friend through all life’s ups and downs.
What was your favourite moment on your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing all my family and friends smiling back at me before holding hands with my husband.
Any funny stories that surrounded your wedding?
Squeezing 16 adults and a whole bottle of morning fresh in a spa the next day. Let’s just say we all had very red eyes!
Ceremony song?
A Thousand Years – Christina Perri.
First dance song?
More Than Words – Piano Guys.
