Any bride that kicks the dance floor off by doing a traditional South American routine with their dad is good in our books. And as you might’ve guessed, yep, this was Vanessa.
Held at The Springs, a popular NSW wedding venue, Kiran and Vanessa loved the property’s festoon lighting and country-inspired decor, adding only a few of their own DIY decorations to the mix.
For this pair, a relaxed and love-filled celebration was the perfect way to kickstart married life and looking at these images by T-One Image, we have to agree.
Tell us about how you met and the proposal?
Kiran and I met at work nine years ago. After eight years of dating, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of Ayers Rock during sunrise.
What sort of vibe were you aiming for styling-wise?
Vintage/ rustic-chic.
What traditions did you involve during your big day?
Giving the bride away by my father. Also, the father and daughter dance (not a dry eye in the crowd after that). And as a request by my dad, my dad and I did a traditional South American dance (Marinera).
What advice would you give to other couples leading up to their big day?
Don’t stress out about the small things, those things won’t matter on the day. The love and support you will feel from everyone will make you forget anything that may be out of place. Just enjoy the moment.
What does marriage mean to you?
Spending the rest of my life with my best friend and starting a new adventure together.
What was your favourite moment on your wedding day?
Everything about it was amazing, but I think the moment we were pronounced husband and wife was the highlight for me.
Tell us any funny stories that surrounded your wedding?
On my way to the venue on the day, I got an email from the musician who was supposed to be playing music before, during and after the ceremony to tell me that his car had broken down and he would not be able to make it.
I found the songs on YouTube and called Kiran on the way over to get him to sort out a docking station for my phone so that we could play the songs. In the end, it all worked out and neither Kiran or I cared that the musician had not shown up. It was a funny story to tell by the end of the day.
First dance song?
James Morrison – I Wouldn’t Let You Go.
