When we think about Nedlands Yacht Club in Perth, WA a few things spring to mind. It’s a lush foreshore, self-catering and DIY style venue that’s perfect for 500+ guests, from casual weddings with food trucks and lawn games, to formal sit down weddings.
Kaila and Pikari, how would you describe your wedding day in a nutshell?
Our wedding day reflected us. We had all our favourite food, drinks and music. It was one big party to celebrate our love for each other.
When you were planning your wedding, what did you think was going to be your favourite part and what did it end up being?
Partying the night away with our closet family and friends and it was exactly that.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what made you decide to do that?
We did! We wanted them to be unique and meaningful.
What was it about Nedlands Yacht Club that made you choose it?
We choose NYC as it’s a blank canvas located on the Swan River with stunning views. We booked our wedding venue 18 months in advance, so we hadn’t put too much thought into the style we wanted, so NYC was perfect for us with the flexibility to style it how we liked. We also loved how they let you bring your own caterers, which meant we could use our favourite food truck!
Now that you’re married, what’s your best piece of wedding planning advice you can share?
Don’t sweat the small stuff or feel like you need to follow traditions, only include what is important to you.
If you had your time again, is there anything you’d do differently?
Nope, wouldn’t change a thing!
