One week out from their big day, Courtney and Travis decided to relocate their wedding to Chapel Ridge – the most recent addition to the NSW Central Coast’s line-up of unique wedding venues.
And while they admit it was a stressful move, it paid off. “This venue ended up being so incredible it put our original plan to shame!” said Courtney.
Other stand-out moments included their first dance, which was a song written for them by Travis’s Best Man and the pop-up bar courtesy of Memory Lane Weddings and Events who also coordinated the entire event.

How did you and Travis meet? We originally met at church four years ago and at first we actually clashed A LOT. We attended a murder mystery party and we were set up as characters that were husband and wife! Feels grew from there but took another full year before it was on!
The proposal: We got engaged on the 1st of October which was a special day for us but I didn’t think much about the day as it was a Thursday and I was working. My manager randomly told me to work from home that day and in between Zoom meetings my two friends knocked on my door with the sweetest note and a beautiful bunch of flowers. I was then taken to another friend’s house where my family and some friends were waiting for me with bubbles, food and the most stunning dress! It was such a weird but amazing experience because I knew I was going to be engaged but yet I didn’t know what was next.
At sunset I was taken to a cliff that overlooked the ocean and I kid you not there were whales breaching and the full moon was rising over the ocean with Travis waiting for me!
Wedding venue: We DO NOT recommend this but we moved our wedding venue the week of the wedding! We planned an outdoor wedding ceremony out the front of a small chapel in the bush and reception at a beautiful botanical garden with the wet weather plan being ‘Oh we can just put a marquee up if it rains’ but not only was rain predicted the day of the wedding it was also raining ALL week and suddenly we didn’t love that idea.
We desperately searched for a new venue in the area and came across the beautiful Chapel Ridge which had only just been released a few weeks before! Because it was so new they were available and we ended up being the second wedding there!
This venue ended up being so incredible it put our original plan to shame! Despite the stress of the week before the wedding we wouldn’t of changed anything!
Wedding vibe: We just wanted to have FUN! That was our main objective and everything else was second. People will always remember a wedding by how it felt. We just focused on things like the band, MC’s getting our guests fired up with some healthy competition and making sure the whole day felt like Court and Trav.
What is so funny about our wedding is that what I envisioned our wedding to look like it ended up looking a thousand times better then we could’ve dreamed because of the change in venues! I was obsessed with the Oak Lab vases and the reception vibe was based around those!
Traditions: adopted, adapted or ditched? We got rid of and changed a few things (which is very freeing). For example, we decided against the cake and just had mini ice-creams which I loved!
The outfit/s: Travis always knew he wants a classy black tux and ended up getting it tailor made for him and his groomsmen. I thought I was going to go for a more boho or even soft tulle type of gown but somehow ended up with tight and figure hugging Made With Love – Archie dress! I adored the open back which was sexy yet classy! We ended up matching perfectly!
Standout vendors: AHH! Everyone!
- Alicia and Nathan at Memory Lane Weddings and Events made the day perfect! We booked them for the pop up bar and wedding coordination on the day and we can’t rave about them more. We did not need to think on the day at all!
- Ben Adams was our incredible photographer and we loved how he captured our day but also his presence around us was so relaxed yet encouraging!
- Gary and his wife at Chapel Ridge went above and beyond for us and having Martin there on the day was amazing!
- The Italian Job catered our wedding and the food was AMAZING. They were efficient and very competent.
Soundtrack: Aisle song:” Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” Elton John cover by Chase Eagleson.
Recessional: “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. Entrance song: “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire. Party starter: “Red Light Green Light” by Duke Dumont. Exit song: “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Toploader.
I’ll always remember… Waiting out the front of the chapel and hearing all our guests cheer loudly because they heard me arriving – was such an incredible moment to know we were surrounded by people who genuinely loved us and were excited for us to get married!
Words of wedding wisdom: Make sure you are happy with your wet weather plan!
Budget: We budgeted for 25K but we went wayyyyy over (at least double).
The future: We didn’t live together before we got married so we have been enjoying looking forward to learning how to live together… forever!
