MAKEUP
- Glowing skin is grabbing headlines
Skincare and glowing skin will certainly be on the forefront of couples’ minds in 2020. We’re talking about the kind of glow that will have your guests wearing sunglasses just to look your way. At the end of 2019, we chatted with Roslyn from Beauty by Design on all things skincare and facials, who noted that more and more brides are investing in skincare in the lead up to their wedding, with the goal of wearing more subtle and natural makeup for their day.
- Barely there foundation
And to continue the point above, 2020 will see brides ditch heavy makeup bases for much lighter, luminous looks, showing off their natural skin underneath.
- Subtle lip stains and glosses
We’re expecting natural, softer lips this year, with nude and pale pink stains and glosses replacing bold lips and colours.
HAIR
- Effortless, textured hair
If you’re not sure where to even begin with bridal hair (queue a quick Pinterest search and your brain might simultaneously explode when you see some seriously overly-coiffed hairstyles), then do consider a noticeably lighter touch when it comes to styling your hair. In recent years, we’ve noticed a lot of brides going for a much more natural, fuss-free and, timeless look. On that note, you certainly can’t go wrong with an unfussy updo. Especially if you’re beachside.
To summarise: nothing too crazy, and a style that is timeless and has movement.
- Braided hairstyles
Not exactly new to the hair scene, we’re expecting to see a lot more braided hairstyles creep back onto the wedding radar in 2020, from beach half-up styles to low undone braids.
- Headbands and accessories
Calling Blair Waldorf! You heard it here first, we’re putting money on the fact that the bridal headband will be a popular trend in 2020. We’re especially loving pearl embellishments to compliment an unmistakably cool hairstyle. Further to that point, we’re expecting to see a lot more other hair accessories creep through, including clips embellished to the max with pearls, rhinestones, and colourful jewels.
NAILS
- Nude or white nails
We recently spoke to Jocelyn Petroni, the official manicurist for Chanel and celebrity beautician, who said she’s hoping to see more nude and white nails continue throughout 2020. Having a classic, timeless and sophisticated look enhances the appearance of a healthy-looking nail plate, and always looks fresh.
- Bold nails, influenced by styling
In saying the above, all of your styling can totally influence the shade of your nails. If you’ve chosen cool tones and colours, then Jocelyn Petroni recommends reflecting this in your polish or if your bouquet is red, you could opt for classic red nails which is bound to look strikingly beautiful against a stark white dress.
