Given how much we adore our pets (and animals in general), we couldn’t wait to share Georgie and Jack’s pet-friendly Wedstival at Camp Sunnystones – one of our favourite blank canvas VIC wedding venues.
Their fur babies (who also played a key role in the proposal) were involved in the entire celebration and were even gifted their own floral necklaces. It was all a bit cute.
Fur babies aside, their day was all about hosting a big party. They provided bite-sized cocktails, an outdoor dance floor and food vans to keep guests fed throughout the evening. “Our dream for our wedding day was a big festival of love. And it lived up to that 100%”, says Georgie.

Congrats on getting married. First, could you tell us about how you met, any funny first date stories and a bit about the proposal?
We met each other through friends, one night at a nightclub. We went out with friends again the next weekend and Jack said to a mate ‘that’s my future wife’.
We decided to go ring shopping together, but Jack would make the proposal a surprise. So one night after work I came home to our fur baby Willow, with the ring tied to her collar and a note saying ‘will you marry dad?’. She then ran off and we had to chase her around the house to get it back!
In a few sentences, how would you describe your wedding day? Was there a particular vibe or theme you went for?
Our dream for our wedding day was a big festival of love. And it lived up to that 100%. It was a big celebration with all of our favourite people, our two dogs and lots of drinking and dancing!
Did you write your own vows?
We wrote our own vows, just so we could get down to what was really important in our relationship. Jack’s vows including sharing his food with me, and mine referencing letting him play computer games. I included a quote from my favourite book Wuthering Heights.
What’s the best piece of advice you took on when planning your wedding?
Take in every moment! Everyone told me before that it would go so fast, and it did! But we tried to savour every memory.
What’s one thing you wish you knew before you started planning?
I wish we’d known how much work goes into setting up everything on the day for a DIY wedding. Thank god we had Melissa from Vagary Creative help set up on the day or we would have had a half decorated venue.
Now that you’re married, what’s the best piece of advice you can give other couples?
Make the day all about your love. If you want your pets there, have your pets. If you want something not traditional, just do it!
Did you scrap any wedding traditions?
We didn’t get introduced into the reception. Our reception was a short walk from the ceremony location so we just walked with our guests over to the reception.
Finish this sentence. The best (or most unique) thing we did at our wedding was…
Our first look! We chose to do a first look and get our photos before the wedding, which meant we got to see each other one on one (with our amazing photographer Ashleigh Haase shooting) and also meant we could spend more time later in the day with our guests!
