Held at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, one of our favourite Sydney wedding venues, Dominique and Luke’s day was a culmination of fabulous vendors, good weather and a fun-loving group of guests.

Keeping tradition and DIY decorations to a minimum, they ran with Dominique’s obsession with pineapples and palm trees to create a playful, Hampton’s-inspired celebration.

The warm and wonderful photo-taker Zoe Morley was on hand to capture all the moments, with the soundtrack to the day pumped out by Ben and Josie from Duke (who we hung out with here).

Tell us about how you met and the proposal?

We met through a mutual friend almost six years ago at Manly Wine. We’d just moved into our new home we’d built and one Saturday afternoon Luke came home with the most gorgeous border collie puppy with a red heart-shaped tag on his collar that said, “Will you marry me” and a stunning Cerrone diamond ring!

What DIY projects did you do accomplish for the wedding?

Ha ha, none! We are not DIY kind of people at all. Dominique and the bridesmaids tied ribbon and a ‘Thank you’ tag onto the Glasshouse candles the night before the wedding, does that count? Ha ha!

What was your theme/inspiration/vibe for your wedding?

Tropical Hamptons. Dominique has a bit of an obsession with pineapples and palm trees so it was only natural our wedding theme would follow this

What traditions did you involve during your big day?

We really just wanted a ceremony and a party so really, just speeches and the first dance.

What advice would you give to other couples leading up to their big day?

Luke – plan the day out and stick to the time, communicate with your vendors and the day will run smoothly.

Dominique – enjoy every minute of it and be organised. The time spent planning is such an amazing time. I hear so many brides say, “I just can’t wait for it to be over”. I never felt like that. I loved every minute of the 15 months from our engagement until the big day. I wish we could do it all over again!

What does marriage mean to you?

A lifelong commitment, the next journey of our lives together. Luke kept calling it time to seal the deal 🙂

What was your favourite moment on your wedding day?

We both agreed that we couldn’t choose just one moment. The whole day was just incredible.

Ceremony song?

Ellie Goulding – Love me like you do.

First dance song?

James Arthur – Say you won’t let go.
