Frida’s Field is a place to revel in the beauty of nature. An idyllic, completely private eco-farm with stunning views of lush pasture and rolling green hills. Our 120-acre property provides a variety of different spaces to create a memorable journey over the course of your wedding day. There are several stunning ceremony locations to choose from – including majestic wedding trees and expansive views over fields which capture golden hour perfectly. There is a spacious lawn terrace for cocktail hour where you can watch the sun set over the surrounding orchards. Photo opportunities abound, with long country roads, natural archways formed by trees, textural sheds, towering trees with twisting limbs, and fields that seem to go on forever. A gorgeous little cottage which featured on the cover of Country Style Magazine is available as the perfect place to get ready for your big day and unwind afterwards. It’s also another stunning backdrop for wedding photos.
And finally, the main event – your reception will take place in our purpose-built timber barn which was architecturally-designed to maximise the views of the pastoral surroundings. The barn offers a grand and elegant space with neutral colours and natural textures that provide the perfect backdrop for any floral and styling themes you choose. It has a high vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden trusses (perfect for dramatic hanging installations), a recycled- brick fireplace, and a large covered verandah which can be used as a wet weather ceremony back-up. With a full commercial kitchen and restaurant team in place, Frida’s Field is an all-inclusive venue offering in-house food and drink catering packages. Tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery and glassware for up to 120 people are all included in the venue fee.
Our multi-award winning Chef Alastair Waddell (including a 2023 SMH Good Food Guide’s one hat award here at Frida’s) – has carefully curated a range of wedding catering packages to showcase our renowned contemporary country cuisine and the beautiful produce from our own farm and across the Northern Rivers region. We offer a range of dining options, including shared feasting, canapés, grazing tables, and cocktail receptions. We are a fully licensed venue, providing a range of drinks packages as well are bar-tab and on-consumption options. Our focus is on supporting natural and minimal-intervention wines made by producers with a similar ethos to our own; plus locally-made beers, spirits, and house-made cocktails. We can also source your specific favourite beverages if desired.
Only 25 minutes from central Byron Bay and 10 minutes from the quaint village of Bangalow, it is an unforgettably picturesque drive through the hinterland to get here. For every wedding at Frida’s Field, we plant a tree on our farm which you can visit over the years. Hosting your dream wedding here will leave you feeling energised by the magic of nature and the knowledge that you have supported the building of a regenerative eco farm system.
Frida’s Field is owned and operated by the Rawlings family. We are excited to be part of the growing “regenerative agriculture” movement, and use farming practices that actively reverse environmental degradation while producing food that is more natural, flavourful and nutritious. We have partnered with a team of amazing hospitality professionals to deliver top quality food and incredible service at our event space. Our kitchen is led by Chef Alastair Waddell – two time winner of the coveted SMH Good Food Guide’s One Hat award. Born in Glasgow, “Ally” received top notch classical training at two of Scotland’s most famous culinary institutions – The Bistro at One Devonshire Gardens as well as The Georgian Room at Cameron House – both of which have earned AA’s prestigious 3 Rosette rating. After working in the United States, Ally relocated to Australia where we worked at Bistro Guillaume in Melbourne before rising to Executive Head Chef at Qualia on Hamilton Island where he was awarded numerous accolades including Hotel Chef of the Year, Hotel Restaurant of the Year and Conde Nast Traveller’s World’s Best Resort. As the former Head Chef of Harvest Newrybar, he was awarded a hat in the SMH Good Food Guide. And won another Hat with Frida’s Field for the 2023 Good Food Guide Awards. Ally has lived in the Byron Bay region since 2017, where he has forged strong connections with many local growers and producers. Ally’s menus showcase his classical training and deft skills in creating delicious, produce-driven cuisine using seasonal crops grown by us and other local producers. Our Front of House is run by Moira Waterfall – former General Manager of Michelin-Starred Public Restaurant in New York City; and more recently the former General Manager of Harvest Newrybar. Moira is passionate about looking after our wedding couples and ensuring that their special day runs absolutely perfectly. She is also a trained Sommelier and curates our incredible beverage packages.
