We’re suckers for a good love story, especially this one… After meeting in a bar in London and dating for only six months, Dana and George made the decision to move to Australia together. A year later George proposed.

Within six months, they’d planned the most beautiful and intimate, three-day celebration at Mona Farm, a unique country NSW wedding venue. Check it out below.

Dana and George, congrats on getting married. First, could you tell us about how you met, any funny first date stories and a bit about the proposal?

We met in a bar in London called the Dog Star (it’s not as bad as it sounds!). After six months of dating we made a split decision to move our life to Australia as my visa was expiring. George is English so it was quite a big decision to move our lives to the other side of the world. A year later George organised an amazing glamping trip to Sierra Escape in Mudgee where he proposed to me at sunset by a fire pit outside our tent with an incredible view.

Did you write your own vows? How did you find that experience?

We wrote our own. At the time of writing them it was quite nerve racking, but so glad we did. That moment of reading our vows was really special and emotional, and turned out to be one of our favourite memories of the day.

In a few sentences, how would you describe your wedding?

It was an intimate and relaxed three day affair. We had people coming from all over the world so we wanted to be able to make the most of our time with our close family and friends with majority of our guests staying on the property at Mona Farm.

We always wanted to do a dinner under the stars and festoon lights, so were thrilled we were able to have exactly that in the most amazing setting.

Were there any traditions you did not partake in or any specific to your family or religion that were special to you?

We scrapped the bouquet toss, cake cutting and the garter.

What’s the best piece of advice you took on when planning your wedding?

We planned our wedding in just over six months, so we had to make sure we ticked off one thing at a time without getting too overwhelmed. People advised us that everything works out on the day, which is absolutely true.

Finish this sentence. The best (or most unique) thing we did at our wedding was…

To have the wedding celebrations over three days, allowing us enough time to fully enjoy the occasion and quality time with our friends and family.

Now that you’re married, what’s the best piece of advice you can give other couples in the middle of planning their own weddings?

Trust your vendors, they are amazing at what they do! It’s worth spending the time to find the right vendors to reflect the style you’re looking for.

What’s one thing you wish you knew before you started planning?

We wish we knew that all the small details that you obsess over actually don’t matter on the day. In the end, you are just grateful to be spending that special day with the people you love.
