Bec + Matt - Worrowing Jervis Bay

It was important for Bec and Matt to marry on the south coast and this venue provided not only the perfect location but the freedom to create a day that felt truely theirs.

It made sense for Bec and Matt to tie the knot at Worrowing - a historic wedding venue on the NSW south coast - given that it perfectly matched their brief.

"Jervis Bay is a special place for us - my family have holidayed there for decades and it is the place that Matt proposed - but we didn't want a beach wedding", said Bec.

Set on 250 private acres and being DIY, it gave Bec and Matt the freedom to create a day that reflected them as a couple. Personal touches like having their daughter and niece wheeled down the aisle in a wagon and playing games at their reception made for a celebration that was romantic, personal and a whole lot of fun.

Captured by Translucent Photography and with an impressive line-up of vendors, this south coast wedding is a goodie.

How did you and Matt meet? We met at a Trivia/iPod Shuffle night - a social event run by our AFL club. Matt almost didn't attend the event and we only sat at the same table because I was running late. Some might say fate was at play that night!

The venue: The amazing Worrowing Jervis Bay! Jervis Bay is a special place for us - my family have holidayed there for decades and it is the place that Matt proposed - but we didn't want a beach wedding.

The seamless flow between the indoor/outdoor reception space is what originally drew us in, but the stunning and peaceful grounds sealed the deal for us!

The vibe: Fun! We wanted colour, laughing, dancing and love to be the lasting memories of our wedding day.

Rapid Fire Questions

Wedding splurge: Live music for the day
Wedding save: Repurposing ceremony flowers
First look: No
Best thing you ate or drank on the day: Margarita - our first drink as husband and wife
Aisle song: Elvis - Can't Help Falling in Love With You
On-budget or over-budget: On
Honeymoon destination: We still haven't decided!

Expectations vs. reality: We definitely took on a challenge choosing a DIY venue and at times the decision fatigue definitely set in. We also didn't realise that March is one of the most popular months for weddings so we weren't expecting to have to make vendor decisions so quickly!

Overall though we really enjoyed the process of creating a celebration that really represented us as a couple. We were lucky to have complete freedom to make the day whatever we wanted and are actually surprised at how fun we found the process!

Best thing you did: It's tricky to choose just one, so here are our top three:

  1. Having our daughter and niece be wheeled down the aisle in a wagon by my brother.
  2. Not revealing our witnesses until the ceremony - not even they knew!
  3. Playing games at our reception - this really set the tone for the rest of the night - fun and cheeky!

If we had our time again...(what would you change): Absolutely nothing! It really was the perfect day.
