When it comes to celebrating love, the charming town of Mudgee in regional NSW is one destination that never disappoints. Year-round, couples and their guests can come and experience Mudgee's award-winning wineries, boutique accommodation, excellent cafes and restaurants and genuine country hospitality. The scenery here is something special.

It's why Wedshed's co-founder Amy chose to say 'I do' here and encouraged her cousin Izzy to do the same. You can check out both of their weddings here and here. It's also why we wrote this blog post - we wanted couples to have an easy-to-find summary of the best wedding venues in Mudgee.

Why get married in Mudgee, NSW?

Location

Mudgee is known for its wineries and breathtaking landscapes. From rolling vineyards to picturesque countryside, there's not a high-rise or highway in sight. The natural beauty of Mudgee provides the perfect setting for relaxed, country weddings that will live in memories for forever.

Award-winning wineries

Mudgee is one of Australia’s premier wine regions, boasting numerous award-winning wineries. Hosting your wedding at a vineyard offers not only stunning scenery but also the opportunity to treat your guests to some of the finest wines in the country. Whether you’re a wine snob or simply appreciate a good time with friends, Mudgee’s wineries add a special pre or post-wedding activity to add your weekend itinerary for you and your guests.

Charming accommodation and venues

From historic homesteads to modern luxury lodges, Mudgee has a variety of accommodation options and wedding venues that can cater to all styles and budgets. Many venues offer exclusive wedding packages and micro wedding packages, making it easy to plan everything from the ceremony to the reception. The town’s warm hospitality ensures that you and your guests will feel welcome and cared for throughout your stay.

Local culinary delights

Mudgee is a haven for food lovers. The region is known for its farm-to-table dining experiences, with local chefs creating dishes that showcase fresh, seasonal ingredients (highly recommend The Zin House for this). A wedding in Mudgee means you can treat your guests to a culinary experience that highlights the best of what the region has to offer. From boujee small bars to buzzing country pubs, it's all here.

A relaxed and intimate atmosphere

Mudgee’s laid-back vibe is perfect for couples seeking a relaxed and intimate wedding. The hospitable atmosphere, combined with its stunning natural surroundings is a winning combo for full weekend getaways. Whether you’re planning a large celebration, a micro wedding or an elopement, Mudgee is sure to deliver on your wedding.

Capacity: 150 (seated) 200 (standing)
Accommodation: Yes - sleeps 2
Wedshed loves: The open-air design. It's essentially a weatherproof way to celebrate under the stars year round.

Arriving at Pavilion at Lowe is a real pinch me moment. Imagine sprawling grounds, rolling vineyards and views of a quintessential Australian country landscape. Pair that with the property's pavilion (an impressive, open-air style reception space with antique furnishings and chandeliers) and you have yourself what we like to call a 'damn good wedding venue'.

Aesthetics aside, the pavilion also has all the practical parts covered, including a commercial kitchen, bathroom facilities, solid flooring and heating and cooling systems. There's accommodation for two on-site and the certified organic and biodynamic wines that are produced here are a little too easy to drink.

If you appreciate stunning ceremony locations and tasty, homegrown food, this wedding venue in Mudgee has ticked those boxes too (just check out this real wedding and see for yourself).

Wedshed loves: The whole vibe. Think intimate backyard wedding but with the best food and views.

Next door to Pavilion at Lowe is The Zin House - Lowe's award-winning restaurant. Over the years it's built a reputation as one of the best modern farmhouse dining experiences, with food grown on-site being the inspiration behind every dish.

It's an eclectic space that feels like a home-away-from home with an open-kitchen dining room, soft furnishings and a heartwarming menu where everything is made from scratch and paired with equally enjoyable wines.

Outside you'll find 360-degree views overlooking the property's edible garden, vineyards and farmland as well as an epic hearth to sit beside with a glass of wine while the sunsets. For couples who want their guests to have full bellies and happy hearts, this Mudgee wedding venue is it.

Capacity: 190 (seated) 250 (standing)
Accommodation: Yes - sleeps 16
Wedshed loves: The attention to detail. Being run by a wedding stylist and planner, owner Sarah has thought of everything.

The Vinegrove stands out as one of Mudgee's best wedding venues for a number of reasons - the most obvious being its undeniably good looks. Surrounded by 80-acres of established grapevines it features a stunning landscaped courtyard, bar, outdoor fire, fairy-lights, sculptural gardens and permanent high-peak marquee. There's also accommodation for 16 guests across a boutique country homestead and four new villas.

These are all big selling points on their own, but what really sets The Vinegrove apart is its flexible and generous offerings. Owner Sarah is also a wedding stylist and planner and her experience in the industry gives her a huge advantage.

Vinegrove offers complimentary transport for guests, BYO alcohol and catering, furniture, glassware, cutlery, exclusive use of the entire property, wedding styling and management and more. Plus it's located only five minutes from Mudgee town centre and plenty of nearby wineries.

Accommodation: Yes - sleeps 20
Wedshed loves: That it's all-inclusive yet couples have the ability to customise every detail and make it their own.

Blue Wren Farm. Remember the name, because if you're planning on a having a Mudgee wedding you'd be silly not to consider this exclusive 50-acre estate. It's got it all - an open-air ceremony pavilion, luxury boutique accommodation (the farmhouse has a pool), an on-site restaurant, a dedicated wedding planner, a list of the region's best suppliers, fire pits in the cooler months and more. There's even a cherry orchard.

The contemporary reception space (affectionately known as The White Hall) is essentially a blank-canvas space (ideal for creative couples) but with all the inclusions that make wedding planning easy like tables, chairs, glassware, crockery, cutlery, commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor bars etc.

The best part of this entire offering however, (we think) is that while the venue offers premium food and alcohol packages, they also allow couples to BYO alcohol or select an alternative caterer from their preferred supplier list.

Wedshed loves: The flexibility and stunning photo locations.

Rylstone Olive Press is renowned for its exceptional olive oil and, more recently, as one of Mudgee's best wedding venues. With stunning grounds and a Tuscan-inspired homestead, this property sparkles from every angle.

In terms of logistics and decision-making, it's remarkably easy courtesy of the venue's flexible approach to wedding planning. It's BYO alcohol and catering, pet-friendly, has wet weather cover, clean-up is included and there are four different ceremony and reception locations to choose from.

There's also a bar area, bridal change room, bathrooms, furniture and more, all of which is organised and managed by Days Like These Events - a dedicated team of wedding experts. And the cherry on top? The endless (and equally stunning) photo locations.

Capacity: 100 (seated) 120 (standing)
Accommodation: Yes - 10 guests
Wedshed loves: The ability to tailor each aspect of your wedding to your taste.

This wedding venue in Mudgee doesn't miss a beat when it comes to creating personalised celebrations. The 65-acre property invites couples to come and put their own spin on things: the permanent marquee is a perfect blank canvas that can be styled multiple ways and couples are welcome to choose their own team of vendors (including alcohol and catering). Pets are welcome, too.

With expansive vineyards, manicured gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside the atmosphere here is incredibly romantic and the facilities are first class.

Add to this Yurali's beautiful homestead which provides accommodation for 10 guests across five bedrooms and you've got yourself a full package wedding venue that's ideal for weekend-long celebrations.

Wedshed loves: That there is no curfew or noise restrictions - couples and their guests can literally dance until dawn.

A new addition to Mudgee's list of awesome wedding venues, Tongbong Woolshed is a family owned and operated property that sits on 2,400 private acres of farmland.

Perfect for relaxed country weddings, one of the most appealing things about this Mudgee wedding venue is that what you see is what you get - the woolshed is exactly as it appears: rustic, charming and full of potential for couples who want to personalise the space.

The other key selling points is that it's BYO, pet-friendly and there is no curfew or noise restrictions so couples and their wedding guests can literally dance the night away. For anyone who might not have that kind of stamina however, the property has set up a nearby Airbnb or guests are welcome to camp.

Capacity: 300
Accommodation: Yes - 4 guests + glamping.
Wedshed loves: The location and old world charm - so pretty!

Putta Bucca is not your typical wedding venue - in a good way. Steeped in history, this eye-catching house sits on 25-acres only a few minutes from Mudgee's town centre. It features a colonial grand porch overlooking the valley, a charming wisteria pergola and a beautiful lounge sunroom, drawing room and formal dining room. The rooms are spacious and each has its own ensuite, with additional glamping accommodation options available.

But the house isn't the only thing that attracts couples to this wedding venue in Mudgee. The gardens, established in the early 1950s, are one of its best assets and make any celebration here feel fancy. Plus with its own dedicated wedding team, Putta Bucca can happily plan and coordinate large weddings, elopement and micro weddings.

Its wedding packages are flexible (including BYO and DIY options) and being pet-friendly and centrally-located means couples who choose to tie the knot here have a lot less things to worry about. What's not to love?

Wedshed loves: The attention to detail - every part of this place feels luxurious, from the yoga mats to the Champagne glasses.

Zensi Retreat is a luxurious property and wellness space for anyone looking to slow down, relax and recharge. But it also doubles as the ultimate destination for anyone wanting to elope or host a micro wedding in NSW.

Intimate and immaculately styled, Zensi Retreat is designed to evoke a sense of luxury and calm. The main house sleeps 10 guests and features an indoor wood fireplace, a custom spa and sauna, a heated outdoor pool, sunken fire pit, outdoor entertaining area and more. Capacity: 250
Accommodation: Yes - sleeps 10 across two dwellings.
Wedshed loves: this venue's absolute dedication to good times - think grassy lawns, live music, woodfired pizza and fine wine.

When it comes to finding the best wedding venues in Mudgee, Burnbrae Wines is always one to consider and it doesn't take a genius to understand why. This family owned and operated winery is beautiful yet laidback. Surrounded by grapevines first planted in 1968, manicured lawns and historic peppercorn trees, it's an ideal spot to host a relaxed, outdoor weddings under the stars.

It's this intentional, low-key vibe that brings people here (the venue's philosophy is simple: enjoy good wine with good friends). And with accommodation available across two cosy dwellings, couples and their guests can easily celebrate over an entire weekend.

The old-dance-hall-turn-cellar door is a good wet weather alternative and where you can enjoy Burnbrae's easy-drinking wines, while outside there are plenty of quality photo locations.
