Spoon Bay Gelato is an all-natural premium gelato made with love on the Central Coast.

Created by former Three Blue Ducks chef, Dan Hughes, our gelato won Gold at the 2018 Sydney Fine Food Show and in 2020 was named BEST GELATO IN NSW by Gourmet Traveller Magazine.

In other words, if gelato is your thing, Spoon Bay is the goods.

When it comes to weddings we scoop in style with a vintage 1970s Ice Cream Truck and a fleet of elegant Gelato Bikes, filled with a selection of our incredible 40+ flavours.

Famous for our European-style gelato with a fresh local twist, we also make delicious dairy-free vegan sorbet. Couples love our signature flavours like Double Chocolate Honeycomb, Salted Caramel Cheesecake, Honeycomb & Lavender and Aperol Spritz Sorbet. More about the vendor team

Spoon Bay Gelato (formerly Mr Goaty) is the food baby of Dan and Julia. Married to each other and to the serious job of making gelato.

The concept is inspired by Dan and Julia’s childhood and travel adventures. Dan grew up in rural England and Greece, and Julia in Bondi Beach. After meeting in France where Dan was a private chef and Julia a hungry traveller, they moved across Europe and the UK before settling in sunny Sydney.

The first batches of gelato were churned in a tiny home kitchen in Bronte Beach. In between working long nights as a chef at the Three Blue Ducks and running around after a new baby, Dan perfected his signature flavours, testing them out on family and friends (they didn’t mind).

A few months on, in the midst of a Sydney “winter”, the first scoops were sold at Bondi Markets.

In 2016 seeking more room for their growing family and uncrowded surf breaks, Dan and Julia moved to the Central Coast and never looked back.

Spoon Bay Gelato is a proud Coastie product, made with locally-sourced ingredients and often found at beachside markets and pop-ups.
