We’re not talking about the fruit or the colour (although we very much approve of both those things). This article is about the wonderfully vibrant town of Orange, which happens to be home to some of the most unique and sought-after country NSW wedding venues.
Why should I get married in Orange, NSW?
Orange didn’t become a popular wedding destination for no reason. Firstly, it’s an easy drive from Sydney (approx. 2.5 hours) and secondly, while it has all the country feels (fresh air, rolling green hills and a lot less traffic lights) it also offers all the luxuries of city life (luxury accommodation, boutique shops and food you’ll be talking about forever).
In other words, you get the best of both worlds – which is great for anyone who doesn’t like making decisions. Orange gives you access to basically everything you could ever need or want when it comes to having a destination wedding, including (most importantly), lots and lots of very good wine.
So without further ado, here are our picks for the best wedding venues in Orange, NSW.

Mayfield Vineyard has surely been the inspiration for a number of modern fairytales. With things like a French-inspired cellar door, a heritage homestead and a wide open lake with a gaggle of resident white geese, this NSW wedding venue can only be described as magical. There’s also accommodation for 28 guests across six dwellings, making it an ideal venue if you want to spend an entire weekend celebrating and exploring everything Orange has to offer.
This property is managed by Wedshed (so there’s a few extra perks).
Rowlee Wines isn’t your run-of-the mill wedding venue. Their eight-hectare vineyard is situated in ancient volcanic soils located 950 metres above sea level, making their boutique wines unlike most. And when it comes to weddings, they’ve recently built a new event space that is (almost) as spectacular as its natural surrounds. With multiple ceremony and reception spaces and two-nights included accommodation in their luxurious studio, this place truly has it all.

This 6th generation sheep station has something money can’t buy – history. Visitors to this unique Orange wedding venue are instantly drawn to its rustic charm and sense of space. Spanning 920 hectares (that’s approx. 2.7 times the size of Central Park), the 100-year-old hayshed is usually where the magic happens. There’s a farm stay too for anyone wanting to make stay an entire weekend (would highly recommend).
Printhie Wines was a standout Orange wedding venue even before its new cellar door and restaurant officially opened. Renowned for its food and drink (Printhie Dining was recently awarded a Chefs Hat and for the sixth year in a row, they picked up the Best Sparkling Trophy at the NSW Wine awards) this is a place where hearts and bellies are always full. The surrounds make for an excellent photo backdrop, too.
For over 20 years, Borrodell Estate has been operating as one of Orange’s most sought-after wedding venues. And it doesn’t take a genius to understand why. Aside from its stunning location, surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards and fruit trees (come during cherry season if you want to pick your own), it has an award-winning restaurant and an architecturally-designed cellar door/wine bar. There’s accommodation on-site AND a helipad.
There’s a lot this place does right, and producing organic, biodynamic, low preservative, vegan-friendly wines is one of them. It sounds like a mouthful but essentially, they’re wines that are produced the way nature intended (and that taste good enough to win awards). As one of the highest vineyard wedding venues in Australia, it also makes for an exceptionally beautifully site to get hitched. The views, large wood fires and the stunning cellar door barn make it an inviting space all year round.
Heifer Station
The 100-year-old wool shed at Heifer Station is something to behold. And couples who marry here are lucky to do so. The backstory goes that owners Phillip and Michelle Stivens never planned on this place becoming a winery (and now wedding venue), until they discovered they were sitting on some of the richest soils in the Orange wine region. Now, couples have access to their exceptional wine, petting zoo, two-bedroom New York style loft and, of course, the wool shed.

Tanya and Nick deserve more than a free hug for dreaming up this place. More like a standing ovation or something. Although it took more than a decade for them to find the perfect vineyard, they are now finally seeing the fruits of their labour (both literally and figuratively). This place is first and foremost about the wine, however, they have also made is a very attractive country NSW wedding venue with beautiful glamping cabins on-site and a cellar door that would make anyone weak at the knees.
Mejuluelda
This family property was previously an orchard producing cherries, stone fruits, apples and pears. Those days are over and events are now their thing but the natural beauty of this place remains. The spacious gardens and willow lined dam are incredibly pretty and ideal for both ceremonies and receptions. Alternatively, the fruit packing shed has been converted into a unique events space that can comfortably seat 60 guests (or used as a wet weather ceremony option). Being just 10 minutes outside of Orange makes arranging transport and accommodation easy, too.
