On the hunt for a cool, industrial wedding venue? Melbourne has no shortage. For a city with a cultural reputation built on top notch urban spaces, there’s a commensurate number of properties that open their doors for hitchings.

And if you’ve researched for more than a few seconds, it’s likely you’ll have come across Nudo – a company that brings the whole wedding experience together with a collection of venues, planners, designers and partnered vendors to make the process of getting married as seamless and stress-free as possible.

Lucky for all of us, they have some cracking urban venues under their expert management – and here are our top five.

1. Gather and Tailor

It was love for us the moment we clapped eyes on the black iron-clad exterior of this reclaimed warehouse. Step inside and the hardwood floors, exposed beams and abundant lighting will seal the deal. We love the versatility here – celebrate with 200 people or carve out an area and make things more intimate.

2. The Wool Mill

Stroll down a private laneway and you’ll stumble upon this beauty – one of Melbourne’s oldest wool mills. It’s a crisp, white space that sprawls over two levels and offers different spaces for celebrations of any size. The sun-filled ceremony room will is a show-stopper with the added benefit that your reception will also be held at the same space.

3. Chapel 1885

Combining the historic charm of a church with the romance of a luxurious New York or Parisian loft, Chapel 1885 is the kind of space that people walk into and know they’re experiencing something special. Exposed brick walls complement a gorgeous timber ceiling handcrafted by 19th century shipbuilders, and the arches – oh, those glorious window arches. Not to mention intricately painted murals, chandeliers and skyscape views. We know – say less.

4. The Button Factory

We love this space for all the creativity it allows. With four separate areas and a chic garden area with a double-sided fireplace, glass bee observatory and wood fire oven, you can really make your wedding an experience that will delight your guests. The interior of the Factory features original concrete floors, a showstopping saw-tooth roof and large original windows that let an abundance of light flow through. If your vibe is cool, urban warehouse-style wedding, you can’t go past this place.

5. Two Ton Max

If you shamelessly judge a book by its cover, firstly – same – and secondly, meet Two Ton Max. This urban gem is covered with greenery from the outside and then opens into a surprisingly expansive space with a towering asymmetric ceiling. The polished floors, white walls and exposed beams complement any kind of styling and there’s also a private leafy courtyard that you and your guests can take a breather from the dancefloor in.
