Once upon a time, warehouses were spaces used to store wares. And then people cottoned onto the fact that big, industrial, blank-canvas buildings made an excellent set of bones in which to create a wedding day that was truly individual.

With high ceilings, raw materials (e.g. iron, concrete and glass), good acoustics and solid fixtures for suspending things like floral installations, it’s little wonder that the humble warehouse is now a firm favourite option for many couples looking for something a bit edgier and different for their wedding day.

We’ve brought together some of our fave Australian warehouse wedding venues so you can see what we’re talking about. Scroll on down.

The Freedom Hub Ethical Weddings

Sydney, NSW

Did you know all the profits made from weddings at this modern, inner-city venue go towards victims of human trafficking and modern slavery rescued in Australia? It’s pretty cool, and the fact it’s BYO and has concrete floors and lots of natural light is a very big bonus.

The Refinery

Brisbane, QLD

Once home to a local panel beater, this beautifully renovated warehouse is now a snazzy, pet-friendly wedding venue. Brought to life by the good folk of Rogue Bistro their focus is naturally on good food, locally baked cakes and convenience (bless their cotton socks).

The Panama Dining Room

Melbourne, VIC

This warehouse wedding venue has some serious street cred. Positioned on the second level of an industrial loft, the simplistic design allows for endless styling options and the late curfew is a big selling point. The main reason couples come here however, is for the ‘edgy modern food’ and lengthy drinks menu (try The Lost Mermaid and Bangkok Colada).

Three Blue Ducks Rosebery

Sydney, NSW

Since joining the Three Blue Ducks family, this space has become a hotspot for couples wanting a cool warehouse wedding venue. The exposed beams, high ceilings, stripped back walls and concrete floors provide an industrial setting like no other and when it comes to good food, the chefs here are renowned for producing seasonal and sustainable fare.

Here’s a story. This industrial wedding warehouse is home to a yellow vintage crane that can hold up to two tons (hence the name) and is available for use if needed. It’s also got stunning concrete floors and neutral white walls (the perfect blank canvas) plus a long list of facilities including a commercial kitchen, heating and A/C, bathrooms, direct street access, integrated sound systems etc.

Rupert on Rupert

Melbourne, VIC

This contemporary wedding venue is a little quirky and a lot cool. The concrete, steel and copper accents are softened by plenty of indoor plants and ambient lighting and the expansive windows provide plenty of natural light. You can host your ceremony in ‘The Conservatory’ (an amazing room with a glass ceiling) and the cocktail lounge is a perfect hideout for the bridal party.

Canvas House

Melbourne, VIC

Canvas House is a contemporary, loft-like space with plenty of perks. Firstly, it’s pet-friendly and secondly you can BYO catering and alcohol and even drive food trucks into the venue through the courtyard doors. Plus there’s furniture, glassware, cutlery and styling items all on site so you basically don’t have to lift a finger.

One of Melbourne’s hidden gems, Glasshaus Inside is a 1920s warehouse wedding venue that’s been dressed from head to top in green botanical goodness (read: zero styling required).
